Week 2 (24th to 30th May)

Wednesday 24th May

This was day 2 of   "cooking" every day in the suit. Although nothing major happened I was still exhibiting better balance.

Thursday 25th May

This was our third consecutive day of "cooking" and I had already said to Hilary that we might switch to every other day if I didn't see a reason to continue daily. This is real trial and error to discover what is the best way to do it for me.

At lunchtime whilst I was waiting for the kettle to boil I decided I would try to see if I was steady enough to walk a little bit.

What happened is I walked from one end of the kitchen to the other. When I got to the sink I turned myself around in an anticlockwise direction but didn’t touch anything and walked back. In total I took 25 very small, very slow and slightly shaky steps. By way of comparison, the same journey using my rollator was done in 16 steps.

In the clip that follows, pre Mollii (30th April 2023) is on the left and after Mollii (25th May 2023) is on the right. I decided not to edit the clip on the right as the ending is quite funny!!

Saturday 27th May

This was the first day for a few where I didn't cook. First time in ages where I climbed a set of stairs and was much easier than I had anticipated, although not easy.

Sunday 28th May

Back to the early morning cooking routine. Walked gingerly down a couple of steps but took the rest on my bottom. In the evening, I walked up the stairs and my son Cian said that that was better than the night before

Monday 29th May

In an attempt to replicate the exact conditions of the assessment, we changed from "cooking" sat up in bed to sitting on a chair. Afterwards I was able to lift my left leg to allow Hilary to put my sock on. Repeted walking down a few stairs and then sliding down the last few. Stood up at the bottom without assistance.

Tuesday 30th May

Another day with an early morning "cook" and for the second day we tried it in a seated position. Felt the tingling sensation in different parts of my body. Balance remains much improved and fingers on left hand showing signs of improvement.

Whilst practicing my walking stance I noticed that I was lifting my left leg much higher than usual so felt it was time to do another before and after clip.

In the clip that follows, pre Mollii is on the left and after Mollii is on the right.

Whilst sitting down I was able to move left foot around and although lifting it backwards was difficult it was possible.

When I had my evening shower my balance was good enough for me not to have to hold on to the grab rail for most of the time. When exiting the shower instead of holding the frame of the shower with right hand and the grab rail with my left whilst stepping off sideways (right foot first) , I held the rail with both hands and stepped down with left leg first.
