Week 4 (7th to 13th June)
Thursday 8th June 2023 Today I was really concentrating on lifting my left leg when walking with the rollator. Currently I can get about 3 really good and high steps and then a few more that are good before the leg tells me to rest. When going to bed I decided to try something different which I know is done in The MS Gym (must get back to doing this) where they do exercising lying down on your back. The theory behind this is that "mechanically" your body is being used in the same way as it would when standing, essentially you are having to use the same muscles as you would use when standing (click here for a better explanation) but without the fear of falling over. Friday 9th June 2023 Ocrevus infusion day so there wasn't enough time to have a treatment. Despite this, whilst getting dressed, Hilary commented on how much higher I was lifting my right arm. This is interesting as we have never really considered that arm to be affected by my MS, probably because I can still do most things with that arm but it must be impacted some way. Saturday 10th June 2023 parkrun day which means an early departure and no cooking. For the first time I'm getting some side effects from the infusion so not exactly feeling great. Suspect it will mainly be a day of resting. Sunday 11th June 2023 After 2 days off, it was time to get back cooking. Although to be fair the current hot weather spell is really taking it out of me. Tuesday 13th June 2023 After a Monday break, it was back in the suit today, I felt that my legs were feeling stronger than usual so I decided to switch from my rollator to my crutches for getting about inside the house. Although slightly slower than using the rollator, I was very happy with how my gait was. Was able to get from the office to the bathroom and back (about 10 metres each way) on 3 seperate occassions. My arms are showing signs of having done some work. Hot and humid weather not helping.
