Week 5 (14th to 20th June)
|
Wednesday 14th June Another day of "cooking" and on this occassion I could tell that things were better as stading up was easier and walking with my crutches was much better than day 1 yesterday. In fact it was so much better, that I decided to switch back to the rollator in order to do slightly less work as I felt it was time to do a walking with crutches before and after comparison. In the clip that follows, pre Mollii (17th May 2023) is on the left and after Mollii (14th June2023) is on the right. My stance is significantly better and the speed is much better despite the walk being far from perfect on the "way back"
Thursday 15th June I am really struggling with the heat this year which is making things difficult. Not much new to report on for the day, however, walking with the rollator was easier and I am lifting my left leg higher. Also able to repeat putting the charger into the iPhone with my left hand. Friday 16th June No cooking today through choice. Decided to try walking one handed with rollator which proved very succesful. Also have noticed that I am able to bend my left leg much easier than usual. Normally it has been a real struggle to get the knee to bend. When sitting in the office chair, whilst my left leg is very straight (rather than bent at the knee) it's not quite totally straight and it is becoming easier to place it in a bent knee position by hooking the right leg over it. Saturday 17th June Walked over "door threshold" into porch area left foot first. Left foot is the one that suffers most from foot drop. Then repeted process when leaving porch to outside. Also did this all on my own without needing to hold onto Hilary. Monday 19th June Before I had Mollii, I said it would be great if I could have just half an hour a day when I didn't have any pain in my hips that would be worth it for me. Last night I took a couple of tizanidine tablets to see what impact this would have. Once in the office this morning I realised I had my left foot fully on the floor (normally my heal is up) which led me to realise I had no real pain. My right hip was very slightly tight but not what I would describe as painful. Now I just need to get the suit tweaked to recreate without the drugs. Lasted until just after 10. Slightly emotional. After a bit of stress caused by issues with my computer cables after I put my desk in a "standing" position. What was very interesting was that after this period of stress mt left foot was no longer flat on the floor. Having noticed that most of the benefits of a cooking session start approximately 8 to 10 hours later, I am moving tomorrow mornings cook to tonight. Tuesday 20th June The time change experiment will need to be repeated as sadly the humidity and warm weather had a major negative impact on me today. On the positive side I can arrange another appointment at the Neuro Physiotherapist. |
